Victoria area guide

Dominated by the train and international coach stations on Buckingham Palace Road, Victoria at least one area of London where a quick coast-bound getaway is virtually guaranteed. The neighbourhood does however contain some charming architectural quirks such as Little Ben, a small 20-foot version of its world-famous big brother which stands by the station in the shadow of the Victoria Palace Theatre.

A short stroll in the direction of Parliament Square will bring you to London's only example of neo-Byzantine architecture and the city's principal Roman Catholic Church. Twelve million burnished terracotta-coloured bricks adorn the exterior of Westminster Cathedral whose bell tower rises 250 feet above street level. Buckingham Palace and Green Park are within walking distance providing tranquil relaxation during daylight hours whereas the theatre crowd makes evenings fairly lively. An assortment of local gyms and a few small galleries dotted around add to the areas' metropolitan feel.

Victoria Underground Station provides access to Victoria, District & Circle Lines. Victoria train station connects central London with many suburbs and cities south of the Thames including the Gatwick area via Gatwick Express. Victoria Coach Station is also nearby as well as numerous local stops for bus rides to all parts of London.
